The EU has tightened the rules on the labelling of fragrances in cosmetic products. This means that, from 1 August 2028, only products that comply with the new labelling requirements may be sold.
Key dates:
- Until 31 July 2026: Transition period for all new products
- Until 31 July 2028: Transition period for products already on the market
What is changing? The number of fragrances that must be listed on the label is increasing from 26 to 82. This change is intended to offer consumers greater transparency and help them make informed decisions.
Why is this important? Products with outdated labelling could be withdrawn from sale once the deadlines have passed. You should therefore ensure that the products you offer comply with the new regulations.
